Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) is a techno-managerial activity undertaken by third parties independent of developers and other stakeholders, to provide a clear, unbiased analysis of software solutions being built, and is imperative in the development of software systems that carry high cost of failure. Verification ascertains whether or not the product is being built right. Validation ascertains whether or not it's the right product that's being built. IV&V is based on sound methodology that attempts to evaluate the accuracy of behavioral patterns of a system and whether or not it conforms to requirements.
IV&V ensures adherence to standards and policies and conformance to system requirements. By providing increased visibility into the development process, it ensures early identification of defects, reduces system life cycle risks, drives development along safe lines, and minimizes cost overruns. It supports the decision making process by acting as a source for technical alternatives, and makes it possible to develop applications within given limitations and constraints. By ensuring that the end product meets stakeholder expectations, IV&V enhances the level of confidence in system performance and increases customer satisfaction.
With its years of experience in the IT industry, its multi-disciplinary expertise, and its capacity for qualitative and quantitative analysis and assessment, PVM Innvensys has developed strong IV&V capabilities, enabling it to do justice to major IV&V initiatives. Innvensys focuses on ensuring the correctness and completeness of software solutions through effective implementation of systematic techniques and industry best practices. Innvensys' IV&V process covers the entire software development life cycle.
